Australia Plate

The Australia Plate is one of the fastest-moving major plates, carrying the Australian continent northward at about 7 cm per year. It includes Australia, Papua New Guinea, and extends into the Indian Ocean. The plate is often considered fused with the Indian Plate, forming the larger Indo-Australian Plate. Its northern boundary is characterized by complex interactions with the Pacific and Philippine Sea plates, creating the tectonically active regions of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
