Burma Plate

The Burma Plate is a sliver plate caught between the Indian and Eurasian plates, formed by the oblique collision of India with Asia. The Sagaing Fault, a major right-lateral strike-slip fault, runs through Myanmar and defines the plate's eastern boundary. This fault system is capable of producing major earthquakes and has been seismically active throughout recorded history. The plate's complex tectonics also contribute to the formation of the Indo-Burman Ranges.
