Caribbean Plate

The Caribbean Plate is a mostly oceanic plate situated between the North and South American plates. Its boundaries are marked by complex fault systems, including the Enriquillo-Plantain Garden fault in Haiti and the Lesser Antilles subduction zone. The plate's interactions create the volcanic island arc of the Lesser Antilles and cause frequent seismic activity throughout the Caribbean region. Despite its relatively small size, it plays a crucial role in Central American tectonics.
