Juan Fernandez Plate
The Juan Fernandez Plate is a small oceanic microplate located near the Juan Fernández Islands off the coast of Chile, famously the location where Alexander Selkirk (the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe) was marooned. The plate is bounded by spreading ridges connecting the Pacific-Nazca-Antarctic plate system. Its rapid eastward movement contributes to the complex tectonics of the southeastern Pacific.
