Philippine Sea Plate

The Philippine Sea Plate is surrounded by subduction zones on nearly all sides, making it one of the most tectonically active regions on Earth. It contains the Mariana Trench, the deepest point in the world's oceans at nearly 11,000 meters deep. The plate's complex interactions with surrounding plates create intense volcanic activity, including the volcanoes of the Philippines and the Mariana Islands, and generate frequent powerful earthquakes.
