Yangtze Plate

The Yangtze Plate is an ancient craton (stable continental fragment) underlying eastern China, including the densely populated Yangtze River valley. Some geologists consider it part of the larger Eurasian Plate, while others view it as a distinct microplate. The craton has remained relatively stable for over a billion years, though its edges show evidence of past collisions that helped assemble the Asian continent.
